Yukoku

Costume and print design for Shinehouse Theatre's staging of Yukio Mishima's Patriotism, performed at the Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center.

For Yukoku I translated floral print impressions into costume, working from hand-drawn motifs into engineered placements that read from the back of the house. Colour and print carry the emotional arc of the piece — restraint, duty and rupture.

The commission followed my 2017 collaboration with Shinehouse Theatre on The Third Episode of Armageddon: Adolf, staged at the Experimental Theatre of Taiwan's National Theatre, where each character's flower motif was used to break the frame of traditional definition.
